Concrete Hardening

Dust Proofing and or Concrete Hardening is not just for poor quality concrete. Extensively used to extend the life of quality finished floors and make them extra tuff. Many of the major Hardware Chains and Warehouses regularly finish their floors this way. This ensures concrete floors are easy to keep clean and improved useful lifespan.

Modern concrete mix designs leave a lot to be desired, these days there seems to be an increase in the number of additives in the mix, this may ensure the MPA of the concrete and keep the price down but can sometimes produce a less than desirable top surface.

The use of products like fly ash, slag, and recycled sand and stone can be a contributor to surface wear issues. Poor placement practices and excessive use of water can also be contributors. If the concrete matrix is not complete for any reason the surface will fail to perform to its best.

Concrete Hardening by use of Densifying chemicals and mechanical polishing can be the solution, a modest investment shortly after the pour can save you the heartache of a lengthy and expensive fix ups down the track.

Improving the wear resistance of your concrete will extend its longevity and secure your investment way into the future so take out an insurance policy on your concrete and get it Densified correctly.

Rain effected slabs

Mother Nature can be unpredictable and rolling the dice can sometime mean you end up with a rain affected slab. The same principles apply to hardening a finished stab, clean, grind and chemically harden is the only real solution. Don’t but it off, the sooner you get it fixed the less long term and permanent damage will occur.

Concrete Honing and Grinding

Concrete Grinding is also often referred to as Honing. It is simply removing the top layer of concrete to produce a flat uniform surface. This will expose the natural stone and raw nature of the concrete matrix. Once the desired level of exposure and surface texture is achieved its time to apply the sealer.

There are vast number of sealers and finishes available, but the two main ones are Topical sealers and Penetrating sealers. Topical sealers like the name create a coating on the surface and protect the concrete by creating a barrier.

Penetrating sealers, penetrate the surface of the concrete and help protect it and make it easier to clean.

What’s best ?

Topical Sealers are traditionally used indoors and can become slippery when wet but provide maximum protection to the concrete surface once exposed by grinding.

Penetrating sealers are mostly used outdoors as they provide a level of protection without creating a slippery unsafe surface and still retain the natural raw look of the concrete.

Both are available in water based environmentally friendly options.

This highly sort after finish adds usability, protection and style to your home, shop or office space, if you think it’s the finish you are looking for contact CSC for a free no obligation quote .

Nil Exposure Polishing

Nil Exposure Concrete Polishing combines the durability and feel of natural concrete with the aesthetic appeal of Natural Stone.

We have all seen the BIG BOX floor look ie large hardware stores this amazing finish looks great and is incredibly hard wearing.

The process is many and varied and will need to be designed specifically for each individual project, a properly placed and finished concrete is the starting point, followed by chemical densification and mechanical grinding, followed by sealing and buffing.

CSC can work from the design stage right through to the finished product. Working with Architects, project managers and concreters we have the knowledge, experience and expertise to get it right.

Antiquing Natural Stone

Antiquing or leathered is an anti-slip solution for slippery natural stone and concrete surfaces.

Perfect for external and internal areas, wet areas, swimming pool surrounds, walkways patios the require a slip rating. The antiquing process uses diamond impregnated brushes that creates microscopic undulations in the surface to achieve a slip resistant finish that is permanent.

Environmentally friendly – uses water only

Fast – 1-2 passes with the machine creates the slip resistant surface

Consistent finish – Not patchy or discoloured and uneven like acid treatments

Permanent – Doesn’t break down and become slippery.
Make sure you outdoor hard surfaces are safe and nonslip
